Don't you just love September weather? We took a weekend jaunt up to Maine last weekend and got the first hint of crisp, Fall air.
I have lived in New England my entire life, yet I am always just a bit surprised when the weather turns from season to season. It's like, "Oh, yeah, I remember this..." Silly, I suppose. But I am so ready to crack out the mitts and sweaters and scarves.
This is not to say that I am not totally dreading Old Man Winter - because I am! But the Fall evokes such feel-good, apple-eating, pumpkin-picking, soup-making good times.
Not to mention Stitches East and Rhinebeck and corn mazes and apple cider doughnuts....
Maine was incredible. We walked a lot and ate a lot and shopped a lot and even saw George Bush Sr. having lunch.
There were so many great antique shops.
My most favorite find, however, was a hat that I had been searching the internet for ever since I saw it on one of the Housewives' shows. I know, I know, a knitter BUYING a hat. But this one was special and looked so cute on, and it was gray!
My sister generously took good care of my little guys. She said they behaved, but Gianna told me that "Jojo peed on the floor."
Preschool started last week, and our little miss could not have been less afraid or more self-assured.
She picked out her own outfit and insisted that my sister put her hair in a pony tail.
She told her parents that they could not stay and that they should just come back later to pick her up. She told me that there were two kids in her class who cried and said, "I want my mommy!"
It's hard to believe sometimes that she is one of us since I would have been the kid clinging to my mother's leg and telling her she needed to stay in the back of the room and knit.
Not Gianna. She knows how to let her hair down.
Hope you are all enjoying your September...
Gianna can NOT possibly be in pre-school! No, seriously. I am still 21! Plus 21. Plus... no wait. Seriously. When did that happen?! I don't believe you. It was just a pretend day at school, right? Plus, also? Where's the hat? How can there be no picture? Clearly, you're forgetting how this blogging thing works. First, all the lies, then, no pics of the not-knitted, bought hat. What is this crazy place?!

I agree with Rachel...when did Gianna get so big!? Did I see that you mentioned Rhinbeck? Hopefully, my family won't need me as much as they usually do and I will be able to get there this year!

Gorgeous photos - I always love it when you post!
And please someone tell Gianna to stop growing. Or to at least slow down. What happened to the tiny baby that you were posting, like, yesterday? :-D

We are not sure we are going to forgive you for no picture of the hat. We love hats. We love gray.
Gianna is rocking the silver and pink accessories. She is rocking the attitude.
We are so proud.
But the fact that she is starting pre-school is freaking us all out.
I don't know why I'm writing in the plural.

I love the crisp fall air too and Maine is so pretty. It sounds like you had a nice trip. I hope you got to Knitwit to touch some Quince yarn. We really need to see the hat. What were you thinking when you didn't post a picture???
Gianna is soooo cute. Love the backpack and ponytail.

I can't believe Gianna is already in pre-school. She looks like such a big girl and soooo cute. Gosh, I wish had her fearless attitude.

Look at that perfectly co-ordinated outfit! Silver sparkly shoes AND belt! I am so envious! And I will have that backpack and matching bag in red please! And a ponytail, I would like hair long enough for one of those too, while you are at it, heh!
Love the horse sculpture with the chain mane. Very cool.

Pre-school! Yikes, how can that be? I love her outfit and that adorable bag, what a stylish, confident young lady.
Now off to contemplate a life lived without apple cider doughnuts. Who knew such things existed? I feel so cheated.
